One Month Later USMNT Forgives Wondo World Cup Miss

One Month Later USMNT Forgives Wondo World Cup MissHave you forgiven Wondo yet? It was one month ago that the USMNT World Cup run came to an end versus Belgium. Plenty of time to let the emotions fade and look back with some pride. They did better than most expected making it out of tough Group G and like 2010 got to extra time before falling in the Round of 16. That said, the picture of Wondo’s miss in added time still hurts. Just Google the reactions of Donovan and Klinsmann for more pain. Even worse think of what the television ratings would have been on Saturday July 5th for a quarterfinal versus Messi and Argentina. So close and yet still so far. Personally, I want to say I forgive Chris Wondolowski and am sorry for the “FUCK YOU WONDO!” tweet I sent out while waiting for extra time to start. He shouldn’t have been in that position to begin with. Klinsmann deserves blame for selecting him to the roster. Then again, Wondo did what he has always done. Found a way to get open to poach a goal. He’s made a great MLS career out of it. Sadly, he’s never been able to do it in matches that matter on the international level.

One Month Later USMNT Forgives Wondo World Cup MissGoing out of the World Cup is never easy. I can close my eyes and picture Boca failing to clear and Gooch getting a BS penalty versus Ghana in 2006. Or Tim Howard giving up his second goal near post in 2010 versus that same Ghana team. I’m at peace with it now. It’s just going to be all the sweeter when the USMNT finally do make a World Cup semifinal. I will live to see it. So I’ve forgiven Wondo. Have you?
